DORSET residents are being urged to leave a gift in their Will to help provide free hospice care to those that need it.
October marks free Will month where people can write or update a simple will for free.
Many choose to provide a gift to charities in their Will. At Weldmar Hospicecare, one in three people who receive care from them are directly supported by gifts left in Wills.
The independent Dorset charity has to raise more than £27,000 daily, to provide free, specialised care for local adults with life limiting illnesses and expected to be in the last twelve months of life.
In addition to nursing and clinical care at their Dorchester Inpatient Unit and localised Hospice at Home hubs, Weldmar offers crucial wellbeing support, counselling, and therapies for both patients and their loved ones.
It’s estimated that over half of UK adults aged 50 and over have not yet written a Will.
To help, Weldmar offers a free online Will-writing service, with additional support from local solicitors. After providing for loved ones, people can consider leaving a gift to Weldmar, creating a lasting legacy that makes an immeasurable difference to local families during their most challenging times.
