Swimming Freddies’ medal haul

Two local boys from Blandford excelled at the 2022 Swim England Summer National Championships.

Freddie Beasley and Freddie Hodgetts, aged 14 years, represented their club, Poole Swimming Club recently at the Swim England summer National championships, held at Ponds Forge, Sheffield.

Freddie Beasley won gold medal in the 200-meter Breaststroke, becoming the English champion, whilst Freddie Hodgetts won the bronze medal in the 50 meter Backstroke. Hodgetts completed in heat 3 of 8 and swam a personal best time to make the final of the 50 metre Backstroke for the 15 year age group. He went into the final fifth fastest, and again did himself, his parents and the coaches proud.

Freddie Beasley competed in heat 6 of 8 of the 200 Breaststroke with a personal best, and fastest time for the 15 year age group.

Both boys started swimming competitively at the age of eight. Freddie Beasley who attends Year 10 at Blandford School, and moves Into in September 2022, whilst Freddie Hodgetts also previously attended Blandford School and is moving on to Bryanston School in September.

Their training regime includes eight sessions a week at Talbot Heath Girls school, Bournemouth, including early morning sessions before school and were rewarded for their efforts at the recent championships. The next target for the boys will be British Swimming short course National championship being held In Sheffield between the 1st-4th December 2022.
