Runners gearing up for Tarrant Valley 10 in June

SCORES of runners will descend on a Dorset village next month for a 10k event.

The Tarrant Valley 10 (TV10) – a 10k race that takes in roads, bridleways and farm tracks in the Cranborne Chase AONB – is set to take place on June 18.

The starting gun for the main race will fire at 10.30am, with a one-mile children’s fun run starting at 10.35am, from in front of the Langton Arms pub in Tarrant Monkton.

“Runners can look forward to a challenging race, though the scenery is magnificent,” a spokesperson said.

“The course is approximately 50% in shade, passing through wooded copses and open farmland. Upon cresting the final ascent, runners enjoy a spectacular view over the north Dorset countryside.

“The event is open to runners of all standards so, whatever your level, you are likely to find others running alongside you.

“If you are not a runner, come and offer support and simply enjoy our beautiful village.”

The TV10 is hosted on a non-profit basis, with all proceeds going to local charities; Teddy20 based in Blandford and The Salisbury Hospice are this year’s beneficiaries.

Last year, the event raised money for Blandford Youth Club and Ukraine via The Siobhan Trust, which serves pizzas on the frontline.
