Landmark Blandford gift shop The Sapling closes for final time

A GIFT shop in Blandford has closed for the last time.

The Sapling, in East Street, has been run by Joan and Andrew Copp for the past 18 years, having been established in 1964.

But on Saturday, May 13, the store closed for the final time as the couple turn to retirement.

A spokesperson for the couple said: “Joan and Andrew would like to thank you for the loyal support and friendship over the last 18 years.

“Plus, the support you have given since 1964, when the shop was established as a gift shop.”

Shoppers paid tribute to the store on social media.

One wrote: “So sad to see this lovely little independent shop is closing. Always full of lovely things. Enjoy your retirement.”

“Sad news but hopefully Andrew and Joan can finally enjoy their retirement,” wrote another.
