Police seize car after driver found with no licence

A VEHICLE has been seized in Gillingham after officers found the driver was behind the wheel without a licence.

North Dorset Police said officers were carrying out patrols in the town on Friday, February 28, when they stopped a vehicle over concerns the driver may not be properly licensed.

Checks on the Police National Computer confirmed the driver did not hold a valid licence.

The motorist has been reported for driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.

The car was seized at the roadside and recovered to a police pound, where it will remain until it can be collected by a licensed driver.

Officers also reported that the vehicle had a number of “questionable” tyres, adding that it was fortunate the defects were identified when they were.

If the registration is WJ57 HDH then they drove off from Tesco Shaftesbury petrol station after filling up with approx £71 of fuel last Thursday. It was reported through our system but probably won’t be followed up if uninsured they won’t be traced. I can pass the information on any other way but it’s worth the police following up with Tesco and other petrol stations in the area.
