FOUR people were injured – three seriously – after a crash in Cerne Abbas on Sunday evening (August 2).

The crash happened at around 8.33pm in the Old Sherborne Road, near Alton Lane, involving a black Mazda CX-5 and a silver Kia Sportage.

A woman in her 40s and a man in his 30s – who were travelling in the Mazda – were taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries.

The driver of the Kia – a woman in her 60s – was also taken to hospital for injuries that were believed to be life-threatening, while a male passenger was treated for injuries that were not believed to be serious.

Road closures were put in place as emergency services responded to the incident and enquiries were carried out at the scene, Dorset Police said.

Sergeant Leanne Howes, of the Serious Collision Investigation Team, added: “We are continuing to investigate the circumstances of this incident, and I would like to hear from any witnesses to the collision, or the manner of driving of the vehicles involved prior to it.

“I am would also urge any motorists who were travelling in the area around the time of the collision to please check any dashcam footage for anything that might assist our enquiries.

“Finally, I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding while the road closures were in place.”
