Nine new homes planned for former nursery site in Somerset village

NINE homes could soon be built on a former nursery site in a Somerset village.

Plans have been submitted to Somerset Council to build on land at Ham Street, Baltonsborough.

The 0.48 hectare site has previously been identified for residential development and in the application, agent Boon Brown, on behalf of Galion Homes Ltd, said the scheme would feature five three-bedroom homes, and four with four beds.

And the plan says the houses would be ‘designed to take into account the surrounding context and the local vernacular’.

“The proposed materials are to be natural lias stone and render on the elevations with plain tile and slate roofs,” it said.

“The materials are distributed throughout the site to provide depth and interest within the development.

“The use of these traditional materials further integrates the proposed development into its surrounding context.

“The landscaping will provide new trees and hedges onto the site and several areas laid to grass.

“This landscaping will help the development assimilate into its natural surroundings and provide a verdant character to the development.”

The site neighbours a development already underway, and would be accessed to the north through that scheme using a new junction.
