HAZELBURY Bryan Primary School was recognised with two awards for its efforts to uplift pupils and to create a positive and happy environment.
The school won the Pearson National Teaching Awards – Primary School of the Year 2024 for ‘Making a Difference’ to its children as well as being declared a Gold Standard Outstandingly Happy School.
On receiving the Primary School of the Year award, a school spokesperson said: “We are honoured to receive such a wonderful award.
“All of the staff really do go above and beyond to provide the best journey for the children, not only academically but personally and socially too.
“Well done everyone and thank you for being part of this journey with us. We received a special letter from Michael Morpurgo himself in recognition of this award.”
In the letter, Michael Morpurgo, President of Pearson National Teaching Awards said: “The work you do day in, day out is life enhancing and life changing.
“It is also hard and exhausting – I know that, I’ve done it. But I know it can be hugely rewarding too.”
He added: “I am writing to you to congratulate you and thank you. For a child to have a great teacher like you is so important.”
The school took part in the Art of Brilliance scheme last year which aims to create a positive, happy learning environment for pupils and was declared a Gold Standard Outstandingly Happy School for its work to achieve this.
A school spokesperson said: “We have an abundance of evidence to showcase what we do to create a positive, happy learning environment for our children, with a focus on wellbeing and mental health.
“We are dedicated to ensuring that we provide opportunities outside of the normal curriculum to help our children build independence, resilience, kindness, courage, respect and responsibility, to have gratitude and bouncebackability and promote happiness.”
