Body found in Yarlington in search for Yeovil man Michael Wheeler

A BODY has been discovered in a property in Yarlington, near Wincanton after police have been conducting a month long search for missing Yeovil man Michael Wheeler.

A specialist search dog indicated at the location on September 25 and crime scene investigators will now examine the site.

Four men appeared at Yeovil Magistrates’ Court yesterday (September 25) charged with murder, and were remanded in custody pending a further hearing at Bristol Crown Court on September 27.

Another man who was arrested last week has been re-arrested and remains in police custody today (September 26).

Officers arrested two more men on September 25 on suspicion of assisting an offender. One remains in police custody and the other has been released under investigation.

Two people remain on police bail – a man who was arrested on suspicion of murder on September 23 and a woman who was previously arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said: “Michael’s family have been updated and our thoughts are with them. They continue to be supported by specially trained officers.”

They added: “Enquiries – led by the Major Crime Investigation Team – continue, and detectives would still like to hear from anyone with information.

“We would like to remind people of the importance of not publishing any commentary or material, including images or footage, that could impact on or prejudice these live legal proceedings.”
