Vale village pub applies for permission for caravan and motorhome plots

A LANDMARK Dorset pub has applied for permission to develop a site for caravans and motor homes.

The Green Man, in King’s Stag, has submitted an application to Dorset Council to create 11 pitches on land behind the pub, currently used to produce hay.

It would see the use of the plot changed from agricultural to leisure.

The plots would include electric hook-ups for visitors, with a toilet and shower black also built on the site.

“The development of the field will involve the installation of a hardcore track with parking bays for caravans and motorhome,” the application said.

It said a “small loo and shower block” was part of the plans.

“The remaining field will be left as managed grass, keeping the soil structure good and allowing for carbon dioxide to continue to be captured through the process of photosynthesis.”

It said materials for the work would be sourced locally, with electricity drawn from the pub supply, which includes solar panels on the roof.

“Rainwater from the loo and shower block will be collected in a water butt and used for watering the garden,” the plan went on.

“Any additional surface water will go into a soakaway. All new hardstanding is to be permeable in construction.”

No trees or hedges would be damaged by the work, with recycling available to visitors, it added.
