Trio released without charge after death of man in Dorchester

THREE people arrested after the death of a man in Dorchester have been released without charge.

The trio were taken into custody by Dorset Police after reports of an assault at a property in Milford Road at around 9.05pm on Saturday, March 18.

A man, in his 60s, sustained serious injuries to his head and was taken to hospital for treatment.

“Very sadly, on the morning of Saturday, April 8, the man died and an investigation into the incident was carried out by detectives from the Force’s Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT),” a police spokesperson said.

“Following detailed enquiries and a post-mortem examination, the death is no longer being treated as suspicious as it was found that the man sadly died of natural causes.

“There was no evidence to conclude a direct link between the incident on Saturday, March 18 and the man’s subsequent death.”

Police said two men, aged 18 and 20, arrested on suspicion of murder and conspiring to pervert the course of justice, and a 44-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of conspiring to pervert the course of justice and assisting an offender, have now been released without charge and will face no further police action in relation to the incident.

“Our thoughts continue to remain with the loved ones of the man who sadly died,” the spokesperson added.
