Woman in her 70s knocked down by van in Bridport

A WOMAN in her 70s was knocked down in a Bridport street by a reversing van which then left the scene, according to police.

Officers are appealing for witnesses after the incident, at around 8.30am on Sunday, March3, in East Street, near Natwest bank.

A Dorset Police spokesperson said a white Ford Transit van, which had been parked at the side of the road, was reversing when it hit the woman, who fell to the ground and sustained a graze to her elbow

PC Maddie Barber, of Dorset Police, said: “We are investigating this incident and from our enquiries I understand there were a number of people in the area around the time of the collision.

“I would urge any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please make contact with us.

“I am also keen to hear from any motorists who were driving in the vicinity and may have captured relevant dashcam footage.

“Finally, I would urge the driver of the van involved to do the right thing and please come forward so we can take your account.”
