FIREFIGHTERS rescued people from two vehicles stuck in flood water on the A37 this morning.
Crews from Castle Cary and Somerton were sent to the scene, at Lydford-on-Fosse, at around 4.55am.
“Upon arrival, crew confirmed there were two vehicles in the flood water,” a Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said.
“Crews donned on wading suits and used wading poles to escort three people to safety.”
They said crews have also been providing checking on the welfare and providing advice to homeowners along this stretch of road due to the flooding in the area.
Meanwhile, in Shepton Mallet, a fire crew was sent to the Wells Road area to help move a vehicle which had got stuck at around 6.50pm.
The car was blocking the road and firefighters used wading poles to reach it and push it into a safe spot.
And another vehicle got stuck near Yeovil, with crews from Somerton and Martock sent to the scene, where they helped one person from the car, before moving it to somewhere safe. No one was injured.

The Cars being stuck was sad, but daylight showed that one of the houses (Bridgefoot Farm) had been severely affected. Water had come down the A 37 like a Tidal Wave and torn up the drive and flooded the ground floor making the house uninhabitable with no electricity, ruined white goods, furniture ruined and much more lost. The two 84 year old were stranded upstairs until the flood subsided sufficiently for them to get out, The Cars may have been stranded, but these two elderly villagers have lost their home for the foreseeable future,
