Floods cause problems on Somerset, Wiltshire and Dorset roads – but no rain forecast for today

COMMUTERS across Dorset, Wiltshire and Somerset struggled to get to work this morning – but there is good news from forecasters.

No further rain is set to fall today, according to the Met Office, meaning water from yesterday’s torrential downpours can drain away, making driving easier for those on the roads.

Many were delayed, or unable to travel, this morning after heavy rains caused flash floods across the three counties.

On the A37 at Lydford-on-Fosse, three people were rescued after two vehicles got stuck in rising waters.

And villagers in Marnhull found it difficult to leave for work this morning due to high water levels on the roads, while stretches around Sherborne and Salisbury were also affected.
