EIGHT schools across Yeovil have closed this morning after a burst water pipe left them without water.

Properties across the town have also reported either a loss of water or low pressure after a pipe burst on Buckland Road.

Wessex Water said workers are on site now to make repairs.

“A mains bust in Buckland Road is affecting water supplies in the area,” a Wessex Water spokesperson said:

“We’re currently on site to repair the problem and, where possible, we’ve sent text messages to customers to keep them updated.

“Our team are working hard to complete the repair and we apologise for the inconvenience this has caused.”

Full list of schools in Yeovil reported closed due to the burst pipe today:

• Birchfield Primary School
• Buckler’s Mead Academy
• St Michael’s Academy
• Milford Junior School
• Milford Infants School
• Milford Preschool
• Yeovil College, Yeovil College University Centre and nursery
• Yeovil Fairmead School
• Primrose Lane Primary School

Preston School, which is still open, said it is aware of students arriving at the school without drinking water and is providing free water for all students.

Anyone in the wider community who is struggling for drinking water can visit the school’s front office to have a water bottle filled.
