POLICE officers have been out on foot across several North Dorset towns as part of routine neighbourhood patrols during the festive period.
North Dorset Police said PC Harness and PCSO Potter, from the Blandford neighbourhood policing team, were patrolling Blandford, Sturminster Newton, Gillingham and Shaftesbury yesterday on a cold, crisp evening.

Officers reported a largely calm atmosphere, with Christmas lights lit, busy high streets and people enjoying seasonal celebrations in pubs and venues.
The night before, PCSO Laura and PC Chris also carried out foot patrols across Gillingham, Stalbridge and Sturminster Newton.

Officers spoke with staff in shops and carried out patrols along the Trailway, a popular walking and cycling route.
In a message shared on social media, police said it was encouraging to see communities celebrating responsibly and looking out for one another.
Residents were reminded to plan journeys home in advance, keep personal belongings secure and check in on neighbours who may need extra support over Christmas.
Officers will continue to patrol towns and villages across North Dorset throughout the festive period as part of ongoing efforts to maintain a visible presence and help keep communities safe.
