BUDGET supermarket giant Aldi has confirmed it is looking at creating a new store in Sturminster Newton.
It plans to build a new store at the North Dorset Business Park, which will reportedly bring 40 jobs to the local area that will pay above the National Living Wage.
But before a planning application is submitted to Dorset Council, residents are being invited to view the proposed plans through a virtual exhibition.
This can be viewed by clicking here. All feedback received will help shape any future planning applications.

“Aldi would like to offer residents in Sturminster Newton easy access to our award-winning range of fresh, healthy, affordable food,” a spokesperson said.
“We are seeking to deliver a new community food store, representing a total investment of £7 million. If approved, the plans would provide up to 40 jobs, paid at an industry leading rate.
“A new store will improve access to Aldi’s range of products for people in Sturminster Newton and the surrounding areas: reducing the need to travel further afield and into town.”
Also included in the plans are electric vehicle charging points, with infrastructure in place for more of these in the future. 117 car parking spaces, including accessible and parent and child spaces.
Access has been proposed from Rolls Mill Way, with a new pedestrian and cycle access create vis a new path to the south of the site onto the A357. Deliveries would be made from a dedicated access point directly off the A357.
The new store could open next winter following plans are approved and construction doesn’t encounter any complications.
The consultation will end on November 10.
