PICTURES: Driver escapes crash off bridge on the A303 with “minor injuries”

A MAN in his 50s was taken to hospital after the car he was driving left a bridge on the A303 and plunged down a hill onto a road below.

But despite the dramatic incident, police said the Honda driver suffered what are thought to be “minor injuries”.

The crash happened on the A303 between Mere and Zeals at around 9am on Monday morning (January 15), with the car appearing to smash through a fence at a bridge near Wolverton.

Resident Philip Schofield took these pictures of the wreckage after the crash.

“At around 9am yesterday morning we responded following a single vehicle collision on the A303 near Mere,” a Wiltshire Police spokesperson said.

“The driver, a man in his 50s, suffered what are thought to be minor injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.”
