Pedestrian seriously injured after hit-and-run in Bridport

A MAN suffered serious injuries after being hit by a car in Bridport – with the driver leaving the scene.

Police are investigating after the crash, between 10.50am and 11am on Tuesday (February 20), in West Street, near the junction with South Street.

A Dorset Police spokesperson said It was reported the vehicle, described as a dark-coloured Honda Jazz or dark purple Vauxhall Corsa, failed to stop at the scene.

The pedestrian – a man in his 20s from Devon – sustained serious injuries and attended hospital for treatment.

PC Simon Wilcox, of Bridport police, said: “I am carrying out an investigation and would ask witnesses, or anyone with relevant dashcam footage, to please come forward.

“Also, I am appealing to the driver of the car involved to please get in touch so we can take your account of what happened.”
