A CRASH involving a Mini and a lorry near Sherborne saw a man airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The incident happened on the A30 at Babylon Hill at just after 4pm on Tuesday afternoon (February 20), involving the blue Mini and a Volvo articulated lorry.
“Emergency services attended and the driver of the Mini, a Yeovil man in his 20s, was taken by air ambulance to Southmead Hospital in Bristol with injuries that were believed to be life-threatening,” a Dorset Police spokesperson said.
“His family has been informed.”
The driver of the lorry was uninjured, they added.
Road closures were put in place as the emergency services responded to the incident and an examination of the collision scene was carried out before the road reopened at around 11.20pm.
Sergeant Mark Scammell, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “We are carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this collision and I am appealing to any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please contact us.
“I would also like to hear from any motorists who may have captured any relevant dashcam footage.
“Finally, I appreciate this incident led to the closure of a main road for a period of several hours and I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding while this was in place.
“The closure was necessary to allow emergency services to safely respond and for a detailed examination of the collision scene to be carried out.”
