How YOU can take part in a Santa-themed ice rink world record attempt!

GET your skates – and your best Santa costume – on and you could help set a new world record in Somerset next month!

Clarks Village is aiming to set a record for the greatest number of Santas on ice as it launches its festive ice rink.

Guests are invited to be part of the World’s Biggest Santa Skate at the Somerset shopping outlet, with free tickets on offer to everyone dressed as Santa.

The ‘head elves’ at Clarks Village said they are hosting “a spectacular launch to celebrate the ice rink’s comeback for the 2024 Christmas season”, aiming to get more than 150 skating Santas on the ice simultaneously.

The free event will be held as the very first session at the ice rink on Thursday, November 14, between 5pm and 7pm.

Guests will be able to enjoy ice skating across the two-hour session, but all will be asked on to the ice between 6pm and 6.30pm for the world record attempt, joined by the real Santa Claus himself, making a special visit from the North Pole.

Taking part in the World’s Biggest Santa Skate is free for anyone who dresses up as Santa, including skate hire, but the event is ticketed. Free tickets can be claimed on the Clarks Village website.

Everyone who attends will be given a special participation rosette with on-the-spot certificates for outstanding fancy dress efforts.

Featuring real ice, the 550sqm undercover rink will be open daily – excluding Christmas Day – from November 14 to Sunday, January 5.

Chris Davis, centre director at Clarks Village, said: “The festive ice rink at Clarks Village has proved to be enormously popular and, for its third year, we wanted a grand celebration to welcome its return.

“The World’s Biggest Santa Skate will be a sight to behold and such a fun experience. We’re delighted to offer guests free tickets to join us at this exciting launch event by dressing up as Santa and being part of a memorable evening, which might even make the history books.”
