More than 4,500 Blandford homes and businesses set for superfast broadband

WORK to provide superfast broadband to Blandford Forum is set to be finished this month.

More than 4,500 residents and business owners in Blandford will be able to access full-fibre internet connections after work by telecoms firm, Gigaclear.

Engineers have been going street-to-street either digging new trenches or using existing infrastructure such as poles and ducting in order to reach each property.

Senior project manager, Lynnette Rowland, said Gigaclear is working hard to ensure rural communities such as Blandford Forum can access the same fast and reliable full fibre broadband enjoyed by larger urban areas.

“From Blandford Forum, our network will extend along the A350 to the villages of Charlton Marshall and Spetisbury,” she said.

“Taking our full fibre to rural communities that might otherwise have copper or an inferior part fibre broadband connection fundamentally changes them for the better because it creates choice for the people in those communities about how they work and how they live their lives.”
