FORMER mill buildings in Bridport could be converted into rental properties – and a wood-fired pizza takeaway retained.
A planning application to change the use of the Asker Mill buildings, off East Road, have been submitted to Dorset Council by PAAD Architects Ltd on behalf of the site owner, Tom Halifax.
The proposal would see two, two-bedroom rental units created in one building, alongside one flat already rented, offices and an existing pizza takeaway in others.
The site consists of three units; a single-storey light industrial unit dating from around the 1930s; a two-storey mill building from the mid-19th century and a two-storey 1930s building with a flat on the first floor and offices on the ground floor.

The pizza takeaway would remain in the first unit, alongside offices and other industrial use, while the second unit would be converted into two new two-bed rental properties, with the third building retaining the rental property on the first floor and offices on the ground level.
It comes after a number of aborted applications concerning the site.
The new application said: “The applicants … are withdrawing the application to convert the ground floor office into residential rental and will retain the office usage,” it said.
