New gym plan at Bridport trading estate submitted to planners

A NEW gym could be set to open in Bridport.

A planning application has been submitted to Dorset Council to change the use of a building on the St Andrew’s Trading Estate, Shoe Lane, from a distribution site to a gymnasium.

The scheme, submitted on behalf of PJS Developments Ltd, would see part of the interior of a unit split into separate rooms over two floors to create a 430sqm gym.

“The access point to the building will remain in its current position with parking remaining on the frontage,” the application said.

Planners are told the scheme would create employment in the town.

The application said: “The uses within this large building continue to change, responding to the business needs in the area.

“In this instance the introduction of a new use will provide an economically viable use of the space and provide employment opportunities without causing any physical or visual detriment to the area.”
