Closure orders on Gillingham and Shaftesbury houses over drugs and anti-social beahviour

REPORTS of anti-social behaviour, drug misuse and disorder have seen addresses in Gillingham and Shaftesbury closed by police.

Officers have secured partial closure orders for addresses in Hyde Road, Gillingham, and at East Green in Shaftesbury.

At a hearing at Weymouth Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (November 15), the three-month closure orders were made.

They allow the occupants to remain at the addresses, however, anyone else who enters the addresses will be arrested.

A Dorset Police spokesperson said: “Officers from the local neighbourhood policing team have been working with Dorset Council alongside Sovereign and Magna Housing to compile evidence to put before the court following concerns raised by residents in relation to anti-social behaviour at the properties.

“Dorset Police remains committed to taking action in response to concerns of this nature that are raised by residents.”

Anyone who has concerns about anti-social behaviour in their community should contact Dorset Police via www.dorset.police.uk, or on 101.
