Boy, 11, seriously injured in concrete mixer crash in Sherborne

AN 11-year-old boy was flown to hospital by air ambulance after a crash in Sherborne on Monday (July 24).

The incident, involving a blue Audi A5 and a concrete mixer lorry, happened at around 12.36pm in Bradford Road, near the Oxley Sports Centre.

The boy was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries, while a second person was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that are not believed to be serious.

A man aged in his 50s was arrested on suspicion of a driving offence and remains in police custody.

Police Sergeant Dave Cotterill, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision, or the moments leading up to it, to please get in touch if they have not already spoken to police.

“Also, I would like to hear from any motorists who may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage.

“The road remains closed at this time while we carry out a thorough examination of the scene and I would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding at this time.”
