Blandford man held on suspicion of murder as searches continue

A MAN from Blandford remains in custody on suspicion of murder as detectives continue to investigate the death of an 18-year-old in Poole.

Dorset Police were called to Longfleet Road at 2.13am on Friday, June 19, after the teenager was found with serious injuries.

He was taken to hospital with a suspected stab wound but sadly died a short time later.

Investigators believe the victim was injured during an incident in Dale Close before being driven to Longfleet Road.

The 20-year-old man from Blandford is one of three suspects who were granted extended detention by the courts yesterday as detectives continue questioning them.

A 22-year-old man from London and a 22-year-old man from Bletchley, Buckinghamshire, also remain in custody on suspicion of murder.

Police are continuing searches at a property in Castleman Smith Close, Blandford, as part of the investigation.

Officers are appealing for information about a dark-coloured Nissan Juke with front-end damage and a missing bumper, which they believe may be linked to the case.

The vehicle is thought to have travelled between Poole and Blandford between 1.30am and 2.33am on Friday morning.

Detective Superintendent Neil Third said: “We are keeping the victim’s family updated on our progress and our thoughts are with them at this incredibly difficult time.

“Our investigation is progressing at pace and we believe a Nissan Juke was involved in the incident.

“We are keen to piece together its movements during the night and are asking members of the public who may have been travelling between Dale Road and Blandford or those living along the route to review any dashcam footage or home CCTV for any sightings of a vehicle matching the description.”

Anyone with information, CCTV, doorbell camera footage or dashcam footage is asked to contact Dorset Police quoting incident 55260090826.
