Bikers tragically killed in head-on crash on A30 near Chard

TWO people were sadly killed in a crash on the A30 near Chard.

Avon & Somerset Police are investigating after the incident, at around 5pm on Sunday (January 28), which involved two motorbikes – travelling in opposite directions – colliding.

Emergency services were sent to the incident, close to the Red Barn Lane junction, but the two riders sadly died at the scene.

“Our thoughts are with the families of both men,” said a police spokesperson.

“They have been informed of the tragic events and are receiving support from a specially-trained family liaison officer.”

The road was closed for a number of hours to allow investigators to carry out enquires and reopened at about 5am on Monday morning (January 29).

Anyone who witnessed the crash and has not yet spoken to police, or was driving in the area at the time and may have relevant dashcam footage, should call 101 and quote reference number 5224023889.
