Barn dance held to say fond farewell to Blandford venue

THE upcoming closure of Blandford’s Corn Exchange was marked with a special barn dance.

The venue, in Market Place, is set to undergo a refurbishment in the coming months and was bid a fond farewell with the dance, organised by town council staff under the guidance of clerk, Linda Scott-Giles.

Blandford Evening WI ladies were on hand to provide sustenance in support of the dancers.

Supporters of Nourish (Blandford Forum Food Bank), helped by the mayor and mayoress, Councillor Hugo Mieville and wife Yvonne, supplied the liquid refreshments while the Ladies BEWI kept the energy levels up by providing a posh ploughman’s supper.

“After three hours of very energetic dancing, with tremendous music provided by The Celtic Rock Band, Black Sheep, and their excellent caller, Theresa, it was certain that Sunday would be a very quiet one for all attendees,” a spokesperson said.
