THE woman known as Aquatic Harriet has taken to a new role like a duck to water, or a swimmer to a pool.
Harriet Green, her real name, has been appointed as the new pool manager at Shaftesbury Lido.
A qualified swim instructor, cold-water and open-water coach, aquafit instructor and lifeguard, Harriet knows a thing or two about swimming and the water.
She set up her open-water coaching business two years ago, as well as founding the Couch to Bay Challenge in Weymouth.
“Harriet has been instrumental in the success of the recent cold-water swimming trial, providing her expert advice and guidance to swimmers, as well as being a welcoming and friendly face poolside,” said a lido spokesperson.
“She has proven to be a reassuring presence for our Lido users, especially those new to cold-water swimming.”
Harriet added: “I am passionate about my own swimming and am a strong advocate of open-water and cold-water swimming due to its positive health benefits, both mental and physical.
“My mission is to help get people swimming safely, confidently and competently, which includes educating children on drowning prevention.

“Above all, I believe everyone should have access to swimming.”
She started the role on Wednesday (January 10) and will be continuing to look after cold-water swimmers at sessions every Saturday, along with pool attendants, Alice and Adam.
