Swimmers brave the cold for Boxing Day swim in Shaftesbury

SHAFTESBURY Lido’s first ever Boxing Day dip saw swimmers brave the cold to wash away those Christmas dinners.

Dozens turned out for the event, which saw the pool open on December 26 for the first time to welcome hardy swimmers.

“What a fabulous morning at the Shaftesbury Lido,” a Shaftesbury Town Council spokesperson said.

“Great to see so many people enjoying our first ever Boxing Day Cold Water Swim (CWS).

“Thank to to the amazing CWS team Aquatic Harriet, Alice and Adam.”

They said after the success of the opening, the lido would now open on Saturday mornings for the rest of the winter season.
