Field fire near Pimperne draws crews from across Dorset to control blaze

A FIELD fire near Pimperne is believed to have destroyed crops covering around 800sqm.

Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to the scene, off the Salisbury Road, Pimperne, at just before 1.45pm on Thursday afternoon (August 13).

Crews from Poole, Wimborne, Westbourne, Shaftesbury and Verwood attended the blaze, along with a water carrier from Poole and 4×4 appliances from Cranborne and Verwood.

Residents were urged to avoid the area due to smoke billowing across nearby roads, with the incident brought under control by the evening.
