A TEENAGE boy is due to appear in court later this month in connection with an alleged assault involving a spade at a school in Sherborne.
Police were called to The Gryphon School on Friday, December 12, 2025, following reports of an incident involving pupils.
It was alleged that a teenage boy was in possession of a spade and attempted to assault two other male teenagers on the school site.
No injuries were reported following the incident.
A 14-year-old boy was arrested and, following an investigation by officers from the neighbourhood policing team (NPT), has now been charged with affray, common assault and possession of an offensive weapon on school premises.
He is due to appear at Weymouth Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, June 24, 2026.
In an update issued following the investigation, police said officers had responded quickly to the incident and had continued to work closely with those affected.
A spokesperson said: “Officers responded swiftly to this incident and a detailed investigation by the NPT has resulted in a suspect being charged and due to appear in court.
“We have continued to keep the school and victims involved updated with developments in the investigation.”
As criminal proceedings are now active, legal restrictions apply to reporting around youth court matters and the identification of juveniles.
