A PROPERTY linked to persistent anti-social behaviour and drug activity in Gillingham has been hit with a three-month partial closure order.

North Dorset Police said officers secured the order at court on Friday, May 15, following months of work with housing provider SNG and Dorset Council.

The action follows repeated reports of disruption linked to the address, which police say had become associated with drug users and ongoing nuisance affecting neighbours.

Under the order, only the tenant, SNG staff and emergency services are allowed inside the property for the next three months.

Anyone breaching the notice could be arrested and sent straight to court.

Police said the move is designed to give nearby residents “some respite” after prolonged anti-social behaviour, much of it linked to suspected drug use and dealing.

In a statement, North Dorset Police said officers hope the order will have “a positive impact on the community in the area and beyond”.

The force also indicated similar measures could be used elsewhere across North Dorset and Gillingham where addresses are linked to repeated anti-social behaviour and drug-related issues.

Closure orders are legal powers used to tackle serious nuisance and crime connected to specific properties. They can temporarily restrict access to homes where behaviour is having a significant impact on the wider community.
