New on-demand bus service to connect Mere, Warminster, Frome, Gillingham and Shaftesbury

MERE residents will soon be able to request a bus from their phone that connects them with southwest Wiltshire and parts of neighbouring counties.

The Wiltshire Connect on-demand service is launching on September 1 and will connect people within the Mere and Warminster area with a wide range of drop-off points.

This includes Mere, Warminster, Frome, and Gillingham and Shaftesbury.

“But short rides within Frome, Gillingham, Warminster and Shaftesbury are not permitted where a timetabled bus service is available for your journey,” a Wiltshire Connect spokesperson said.

Rides can be booked up to a maximum journey length of approximately 13 miles.

Villages served include Sutton Veny, The Deverills, Chitterne, Maiden Bradley, Kilmington, Bourton, Zeals and Tisbury, as well as leisure attractions at Longleat, Stourhead and Shearwater.
