A special ceremony was held at the War Memorial at Sherborne Abbey to mark the launch of the Royal British Legion’s Centenary Poppy Appeal.
A traditional two minutes’ silence was observed before the centenary wreath was laid by Sherborne Mayor Anne Hall and chairman of the Sherborne & District Branch of the Royal British Legion, Dave Bows.
Dave said: “We are always on the look out for new members so that we can indeed take the branch forward. You do not have to have been a serving member of the Armed Forces, so please ring for a chat.”
