Yellow weather warning for heavy rain in Somerset, Wiltshire and Dorset

A WEATHER warning has been issued for heavy rain in Somerset, Wiltshire and Dorset over the weekend.

The Met Office says spells of rain will push east across the country through Saturday and Sunday (February 17 and 18), with disruption “likely”.

The warning says people should expect:

  • Bus and train services probably affected, with journey times taking longer
  • Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer
  • Flooding of a few homes and businesses is likely
  • Some interruption to power supplies and other services

“An area of persistent and occasionally heavy rain is expected to move from west to east across the warning area during Saturday and Sunday, falling on already saturated ground,” a forecaster said.

“Rain will clear western areas early Sunday, while rate of clearance from east and southeast England is open to some uncertainty, but all areas should become dry by evening.”
