A WOMAN in her 90s was taken to hospital with suspected ‘serious injuries’ after being hit by a car in Stalbridge.

Police were called to the scene, on the A357 Ring Street, at just after 10.20am on Thursday (October 6).

The collision involved a Nissan Leaf, officers said, and they are now appealing for anyone who witnessed it to come forward.

“Emergency services attended and the pedestrian, a woman aged in her 90s, was taken to Dorset County Hospital for treatment to injuries that were believed to be serious,” a Dorset Police spokesperson said.

“Her family has been informed.

“Road closures were put in place as the injured woman was treated and an examination of the scene was carried out.”

The road reopened at around 2.45pm, they added.

Police Sergeant Mike Gatfield, of the traffic unit, said: “We have commenced an investigation to establish the full circumstances of this collision and I am keen to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened.

“I would also ask anyone who was driving in the area around the relevant time who has dashcam fitted to their vehicle to please check their footage for anything that might assist our enquiries.

“Finally, I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding while the road closures were in place.”
