Wincanton to mark VE Day 80 with moment of celebration in Cale Park

WINCANTON will host a “shared moment of celebration” marking the 80th anniversary of VE Day next month.

On May 10, Cale Park will be the venue for a gathering remembering the sacrifices of the Fallen.

VE Day falls on May 8 each year, the date when, in 1945, the Second World War was declared over after Germany officially surrendered the previous day.

And on May 10, visitors to Cale Park will be able to enjoy a range of entertainment including bouncy castles, bunker bushcraft, family attractions, a barbecue and more.

Families are also encouraged to bring along a picnic as part of the celebration.

The VE Day event will run from 1pm until 4pm and for more details, visit wincantontowncouncil.gov.uk.
