WARMINSTER Town Football Club has vowed to deal with supporters “causing issues” at matches.
The club said it was aware of a group of supporters causing problems during games at their Weymouth Street ground, including abusive language.
In a statement, the club said: “We are aware of a group of spectators that are causing issues with their behaviour at home matches.
“We totally understand supporting our great club in a vocal way and do not expect silent fans but recent behaviour is not acceptable.
“Unfortunately it isn’t just abusive language – which is bad enough – from these spectators but abusive behaviour towards opposition players, which is totally out of order.
“These fans will be dealt with, with immediate effect.”
The statement came after Sunday’s game against Bristol’s AEK-Boco FC, which ended in a 3-2 win for Warminster after a late winner from Jake Wright.
After the game, the club felt it appropriate to apologise to the visiting team for the behaviour of certain fans.
“We’d also like to take this opportunity to apologise to the players, officials and supporters of AEK-Boco FC for the behaviour of our fans and rest assured it will not be happening again,” the statement added.
