“A passenger from the Audi – a man aged in his 20s – was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that were not believed to be serious.”

Now, a 21-year-old man from Shaftesbury and a 22-year-old man from Mere – have been charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

Sergeant Mike Burt, of the Serious Collision Investigation Team, said: “Firstly, our thoughts remain with the family and the loved ones of Dean McCormack.

“Following detailed enquiries, we have consulted with the Crown Prosecution Service, which has authorised charges against the two individuals in this case.
