TV journalist Mariella Frostrup gives advice to Frome College students

YOUNGSTERS at Frome College got an insight into the workings of showbiz during a visit from a TV personality and journalist.

Mariella Frostrup, who lives near Bruton, was at the establishment recently to talk to students about her life and career.

The visit was part of the star’s work with the SpeakersforSchools charity – founded by ITV’s political editor Robert Peston – which aims to end educational inequality by giving all young people access to the same prestigious networks available to the top fee-paying schools.

Through talks from today’s influential figures via their Inspiration programme, they endeavour to help level the playing field for young people of all backgrounds.

“Mariella spoke to an audience of 250 year 10 and post-16 students, giving an insightful, and at times humorous, talk on her life and career, passing on her wisdom, dispelling the myths of social media and encouraging our young people to work tirelessly towards their goals,” a college spokesperson said.

“The students thoroughly enjoyed listening to Mariella and were keen to discuss her time working with Live Aid, and her views on gender inequality.”

She agreed to return to Frome College in the future to further help support and guide young people, they added.
