Three teens arrested after supermarket thefts thanks to police dog Skye

THE skills of Police Dog Skye were put to good use when three suspected burglars were apprehended in Warminster.

Police were called to the Lidl store, in Station Road, at around 2am on Monday morning after an alarm was activated at the supermarket.

It’s believed offenders had broken in and stolen food and alcohol during the burglary.

PD Skye was at the scene with her handler and searched the building. Although they didn’t find anyone, the officers heard another alarm at a nearby building, so they followed the sound.

“They heard voices nearby and PD Skye located two people hiding in a hedge as well as rucksacks containing alcohol,” said a Wiltshire Police spokesperson.

“PD Skye then continued to search another building nearby, as well as a garden, and then into a hedge where she found a third person and another rucksack containing alcohol believed to have been stolen.”

A 15-year-old boy and two 16-year-old boys were arrested on suspicion of burglary and taken to custody in Gablecross where they remain for questioning. Enquiries are ongoing.
