THREE people – including a 16-year-old boy – were arrested after police stopped a suspected stolen vehicle in Mere in the early hours of this morning (January 8).
The trio – a 16-year-old boy from Avonmouth, a 28-year-old man from Oxfordshire and a 29-year-old man from Milton Keynes – were taken into custody after being pulled over by police on B3095 at around 2am.
“Further checks showed the vehicle was reported to have been stolen from the Oxford area and the vehicle was being driven on false number plates. The vehicle was seized,” a Wiltshire Police spokesperson said.
“Further checks showed the 29-year-old male was also wanted by West Midlands Police for theft of a vehicle on December 14 – he was further arrested on suspicion of a second theft of a motor vehicle.
“All three men remain in Swindon custody for questioning and enquiries are ongoing.”
