A BUSINESS in Sturminster Newton says its Christmas spirit “will not be defeated” after vandals targeted its festive display for the third time.
Decorative Christmas trees placed at the entrance of 1855 Sturminster Newton in Market Place have been damaged on multiple occasions, with the latest incident occurring yesterday evening.
In a statement shared on Facebook, the artisan retailer said an unknown person snapped the top off one of the trees before dragging it through the town.

The incident is believed to involve two men, and the owner has reported the matter – which was captured on CCTV – to police.
“I’m so sad,” the business wrote. “I really hoped it was just due to the wind, but sadly it wasn’t, and now my faith in people has taken a little dip. I will attempt to fix him – he may be a little shorter and with no star on the top, but I’m determined to have him back for Christmas. We won’t be defeated.”
The trees were first vandalised in November, less than a week after they were installed.
Residents have expressed their frustration. Zoe Edginton commented: “Why do people spoil it for others?”, while Fran Griffin described the behaviour as “so mean”.
