A DORSET library will close temporarily so new technology can be installed to enable members to use facilities outside of opening hours.
Sturminster Newton Library will be closed to the public from Monday, March 3 and will re-open on Saturday, March 8.
Dorset Council says the new tech – ‘extended access’ – is set to launch in spring.

Customers can borrow up to 20 books during the closure and loan periods will be extended to ensure no returns are due while the library is closed.
Nearby libraries in Blandford and Shaftesbury can be used to borrow and return books and other facilities.
“Additionally, our 24/7 online library services for e-books, e-magazines, and e-newspapers will remain available, allowing customers to view their accounts and access information about other services and library opening times on the Dorset Council website,” a Dorset Council spokesperson said.
The investment in Sturminster Newton Library is funded by Arts Council England and is part of a broader project to introduce ‘extended access’ at four Dorset library sites: Verwood, Sturminster Newton, Gillingham, and Sherborne.
Councillor Ryan Hope, portfolio holder for customer, culture, and community engagement at Dorset Council, said: “We’re really pleased to be able to improve the facilities for our customers at Sturminster Newton Library thanks to funding from Arts Council England.
“We know the residents will benefit significantly from the investment and the expansion of opening times once the work is completed.”
