Sturminster Newton High School celebrates excellent GCSE results

STAFF at Sturminster Newton High School have been celebrating the exceptional achievements of their students in the 2024 GCSE exams.

A spokesperson for the school said: “This year’s results reflect the hard work, dedication, and perseverance of our students and staff.

“They have embraced the school’s ethos of showing resilience, respect and responsibility and have been rewarded by achieving fantastic results that will allow them to move on to the next stage of their educational journey.

“As our students move on to the next stage, we are confident that they will continue to excel and make significant contributions to their chosen fields. We wish them all the best in their future endeavours.”

Some high flyers include:

  • Jacka Ware with six GCSEs at grade 8, and a Distinction*.
  • Ben Mitchell with one GCSE at Grade 9, three at Grade 8, four at Grade 7 and a Distinction*
  • Neve Hoey with three GCSEs at Grade 8 and six GCSEs at Grade 7
  • Elliot Wagner-Hale with three GCSEs at Grade 9, one at Grade 8, three at Grade 7 and three at Grade 5
  • Lina Felsa with five GCSEs at Grade 8, two at Grade 7 and two at Grade 6

Ben said: “I was really pleased with my results and am looking forward to starting at the schools Sixth Form.”

Dom said: “I was very happy with my results and I am very excited to start my apprenticeship at Thales.”

Elliot said: “I’m really pleased with  my results and I’m looking forward to my next steps – particularly Classics at Shaftesbury, thank you to the teachers at the school.”

Head of school, Michael Motteram said: ‘We are all really pleased and proud of our students for these results.

“They have performed magnificently, and it is a testament to their work ethic and the positive support they have received from parents and school staff.

“A huge well done to them and thank you to all the teachers, parents and school staff who have worked so hard to support, encourage and motivate them.

“We wish all the students the very best for their next steps and look forward to welcoming a great many as they return to our Sixth Form in September.”

A school spokesperson said: “The school is very proud of each and every Year 11 student and understand that success is celebrated by a multitude of measures, including grades achieved, but also vital progress made personally and individually.”
