Striking gold: metal detectorists raise thousands to support youth football

A WEEKEND dig saw metal detecting enthusiasts raise more than £2,000 to support a football club in Blandford Forum.

Members of the Dorset and West Pastfinders recently gathered for a weekend of detecting, camaraderie, and charity at a fundraising event held near Blandford.

The £2,685 raised will directly support the youth teams and grassroots football development at Pimperne Football Club.

Andy Jeffery, club co-founder and chair of Pimperne FC expressed his gratitude and thanks for the donation, which will help fund much needed equipment for young players in the area.
