A STATIC home was “severely damaged” after a fire on Friday night (January 12).

The blaze, at a single-storey property just outside Frome, was reported at around 8.30pm, with crews from the town and Warminster sent to the scene.

“On arrival, crews confirmed this to be a single storey building used as a static home, well alight,” a Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said.

“The officer in charge requested a further two fire engines attend for water and breathing apparatus, these came from Frome and Trowbridge.

“Western Power were requested to attend to isolate the power to the property.”

They added: “This was a large static caravan, measuring approx 15m by 8m of wood and plastic construction.

“The fire was extinguished using four breathing apparatus wearers, two hose reel jets, three main jets, two triple extension ladders and small tools.
