Stand-up poet to stop off for three Dorset dates

AWARD-WINNING poet and stand-up performer Luke Wright is set to tour Dorset next month with his new show Later Life Letter.

Wright, who regularly supports Dr John Cooper Clarke on tour and appears on BBC Radio 4, has won both a Fringe First award for writing and a Stage Award for performance.

His latest work combines poetry and stand-up to tell the story of his adoption – reflecting on the life he leads, the one he might have had and the complicated emotions of discovering his birth mother on social media.

Critics have praised Wright’s performances with The List noting that “his poems shoot arrows through the heart”.

Audiences can expect a mix of laughter, poignancy and playful energy, often accompanied by unexpected bursts of drum ‘n’ bass.

In Later Life Letter, Wright tackles questions many adoptees may recognise such as how to honour the parents who raised you while exploring your origins, and what it means to reconcile curiosity with loyalty.

Delivered with his trademark wit and pathos, the show promises a frank and moving evening of performance.

The tour is presented by charity Artsreach and includes three Dorset dates: Chetnole Village Hall on Friday, February 13, Mowlem Studio in Swanage on Saturday, February 14 and Ibberton Village Hall on Sunday, February 15.

Performances begin at 7.30pm.
